Merit Badge Councelor

The process to register as a merit badge counselor is fairly simple.

1. You must complete Youth Protection Training, and repeat it every two years.  You can take the training online at:

If you do not already have one, you will need to create an account there before taking the course.  When you complete the course, you will receive an electronic certificate.  We need a copy of that certificate to process your application.

2. Complete a) an adult leader application as a merit badge counselor, AND b) a merit badge counselor information sheet.  Links to both can be found at:
http://www.siadvancement.org/newweb/mbcr.htm

a) You must sign the adult leader application on the second and third pages of the application.  You do not need other signatures.  You do not need to be affiliated with a unit to be a merit badge counselor, and you do not pay any fees.

b) You must also sign the information sheet, and include the date you took Youth Protection Training.

3. Send the application, the information sheet and the copy of your youth protection certificate to Steve Fehr, the Aquehonga District Merit Badge Coordinator - electronically is fine but they must have physical signatures.  Bernies  email is bcarp.bsamb@gmail.com

4. He will verify everything and let you know if we need something else or if you are good to go.

5. Please note that some merit badges - commonly shooting and water sports - require additional documentation and certifications.  Please provide them when you send the application, etc.

Thanks, and I look forward to adding you to our list of counselors.
